Weekly Programs Feature Legislative Issues, Students' Visit to Vatican

04/15/13

Several bills that deal with significant moral issues have been introduced in the North Carolina legislature -- bills that are closely being monitored by Bishop Michael F. Burbidge of Raleigh and Bishop Peter J. Jugis of Charlotte. They include a challenge to the state’s Racial Justice Act, immigration, assisting another in attempting suicide and prohibiting sex-selection abortion.

Diocesan Pro-Life Director Jackie Bonk discusses several of these important issues on this week’s Catholic Perspective and Catholic Weekly. The program also features Christine Gibbons and Michael Shulby, seniors at Cardinal Gibbons High School, who were part of a group of 40 students and chaperones who were at the Vatican during Holy Week and Easter Sunday. The students reflect on their trip and being part of the hundreds of thousands of people who attended the liturgies celebrated by Pope Francis.
