Bishop Burbidge to Celebrate Mass for Election of New Pope
The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge will celebrate Mass, at 12:10 p.m., Monday, March 4, 2013, at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Raleigh for the Election of a New Pope.
The prayers of the Mass ask God, the Eternal Shepherd, to grant a new Pastor for the Church and to “gladden us with the gift of a Shepherd.” The Mass is a time for the faithful to ask the Holy Spirit to inspire and strengthen the College of Cardinals as they choose the new Holy Father.
During this time of the sede vacante, the faithful are encouraged to join in prayer, both private and public for the successful election of a new Pope and that the Church will be a faithful witness to the truth of the Gospel.
