Bishop Burbidge Addresses Annual Financial Report
The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge has written a letter to Diocesan faithful on the Annual Financial Report for the Diocese of Raleigh for fiscal year 2010-2011. The letter, printed in the January/February issue of the NC Catholics, notes that the audit was conducted by an independent accounting firm which issued an unqualified opinion, which indicates “that the auditors believe that the financial statements fairly and accurately present the financial picture at the Diocese.”
Bishop Burbidge’s letter provides his ongoing commitment and accountability of the proper and effective Diocesan stewardship of gifts, donations and contributions given by the people. The Bishop cites the challenges faced by the growing Diocese in the coming years and addresses current and planned initiatives to meet the challenges.
“I am grateful to God for sending me to be your Bishop, and I thank you for the countless ways you support me and our Diocese,” Bishop Burbidge wrote. “I extend my gratitude for all of you and for the Diocese of Raleigh, and I assure you of my continued prayers.”
