Diocesan Lenten/Easter Broadcast Message Now Airing

larger font

The annual Lenten/Easter broadcast message by the Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge is being aired over several television and radio stations in the Diocese of Raleigh.

The 30-second message is carried on TV stations and channels in the Triangle, the New Bern-Greenville-Washington market and in the Wilmington television market on CNN and Fox News Channels on Time-Warner Cable. The message is also being carried on several radio stations in the Diocese and four along the Outer Banks and Elizabeth City area. This year’s message was recorded at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Raleigh and features five individuals and Bishop Burbidge.

The broadcast spots are made possible through donations made by parishioners to the Catholic Communication Campaign, which is taken up in parishes in May/June, with half of the collection going to communication/media projects produced and conducted by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and half remaining in the Diocese. Among other Diocesan projects supported by the annual collection is the Diocesan television program, Catholic Perspective, and the Diocesan radio program, Catholic Weekly. Donations also allow subscription to the video service now available on the Diocesan website, produced by the Catholic News Service. It features video news reports from CNS reporters based in Rome and Washington, DC. It can be accessed from the home page of the Diocesan site by clicking on the button on the right side of the page that reads CNS Video.
