40 Days for Life, a national pro-life campaign, began September 24 with more than 170 cities in 45 states taking part in what is the “largest and longest coordinated pro-life mobilization in history."

In Raleigh, Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge along with 30 men and women gathered at 7:00am to pray the rosary in front of “A Woman’s Choice” in Raleigh. In a September 18 letter to the people of the Diocese, Bishop Burbidge extended hope that Catholics in every parish “will participate in this activity of prayer and fasting, peaceful vigils and community outreach providing a positive pro-life message.”

“As followers of Jesus Christ we must continually work to uphold the sacredness and dignity of life, especially for the most vulnerable among us, the unborn,” the Bishop wrote. “This fall let us promote the culture of life in our families, our parishes and our communities. Participation in the 40 Days for Life will be a time of grace for you, your parish and the Diocese.”
