Pope Francis 'deeply saddened' by floods in Libya

Pope Francis has expressed his concern for the devastating floods in Libya.

In a telegram sent to Libya's apostolic nuncio, the pope voiced his "profound sadness" for what has happened. He assured that he prays for the souls of those who lost their lives, for their families and for the rescue teams that are actively saving lives.

International help has come from neighboring countries such as Spain and Italy, as well as from further countries like Canada.
