Position Summary:

Immaculata Catholic School is seeking a full time Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Coordinator and Resource Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. Candidates possessing school resource administrative experience and resource teaching experience are preferred.  

The successful candidate will work well with the principal, Dean of Academics and resource team at Immaculata in order to manage the MTSS, resource case manage and provide resource teaching effectively in the classroom. The MTSS Coordinator will manage a team of resource teachers tasked with providing additional support for students with demonstrated needs in the classroom. Additionally, the MTSS Coordinator will provide support, in coordination with the Dean of Academics, for classroom teachers providing tier one instruction, from all-class instruction to targeted interventions. 

Ideal candidates will be comfortable in a highly collaborative, professionally challenging environment. They will be experts in research-based curriculum and instruction practices and multi-tiered support systems in K-8 institutions. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Reports to the lead School Counselor and collaborates with them regularly in order to provide socio-emotional support for all students at ICS. 
  • The PT School Counselor is not a disciplinarian. The PT School Counselor is involved in activities and services that will enhance the quality of our students’ school experience. 
  • He or she is a part of student intervention and a Referral Service Committee member. 
  • His or her role is to help any student in need of academic, social, and emotional assistance.

The PT School Counselor is a student advocate and will therefore:  

  • Consult with classroom teachers to discuss difficulties any student(s) may have and review strategies and interventions in the classroom. 
  • Review current and past report cards as well as standardized test scores of any student in question. 
  • Set up meetings with parents and other Support Services Committee members. 
  • Actively involve parents or legal guardians in the development and implementation of further interventions. 
  • Make teachers aware of student needs, check student progress, and monitor all students on counselor caseload. 
  • Complete classroom Guidance lessons for PreK through 8th grade yearly. 
  • Counsel individual students and small groups (such as: study habits, academic support, anxiety, self-esteem, friendships, bereavement, single parent home life, peer problems and conflicts, stress management, anger and bullying.)   

The PT School Counselor will assist lead counselor with duties including: 

  • Organize and execute Career Day for middle school. 
  • Send out all high school applications and write letters of recommendation. 
  • Provide staff professional development. 
  • Provide and/or plan parent workshops. 
  • Schedule schoolwide programs such as Start with Hello Week. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in school counseling or school psychologist with 3 years of professional experience.
  • Licensure: NC License: Professional School Counselor or school psychologist. 
  • Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks
  • Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.
