Position Summary:

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Raleigh, North Carolina is seeking a Development Director to join the NC State Campus Ministry in Raleigh, NC. The Development Director will support the fundraising needs of the campus ministry at NC State College. The Development Director will work with the chaplain to develop strategies that can be used to secure funding and sponsorships while maintaining relationships with donors.

Travel Required: 10%

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, solicit, and close new and established relationships with donors with the annual goal of raising $200,000 or above.
  • Support and cultivate a respectful reputation for the campus ministry.
  • Research potential sources of, and applies for, grants and public funding.
  • Write content to earn grants and build relationships with the organizations.
  • Work with Chaplain to establish fundraising objectives for the organization, setting one year, five year, and longer-term goals.
  • Oversees the fundraising process and maintains records of receipts and disbursements of funds.
  • Plans fundraising events that effectively communicate the purposes of the organization.
  • Publish a yearly report for donors and distribute end of year tax documents as applicable.
  • Help with the quarterly newsletter.
  • Attend the quarterly financial meetings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent level of experience required.
  • 5 or more years of experience in fundraising for a nonprofit organization.
  • Ability to work successfully independently and within a team environment.
  • Refined verbal/written communication and impeccable interpersonal skills.
  • Recognized as a self-starter, consistently initiating innovative strategies.
  • Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies and principles.
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills with the ability to train and direct volunteers as needed.
  • Good time management and task prioritization skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher).
  • Must satisfactorily complete required criminal background and reference checks.
  • Must complete the Diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training

Preferred qualifications:

  • A practicing Catholic preferred with thorough knowledge of the Catholic faith and the ability to communicate it to a wider audience in both words and actions.
  • Knowledge of tax planning principles and techniques that favor charitable giving.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
