Office of Worship

"Nevertheless the liturgy is the summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed; at the same time it is the font from which all her power flows. For the aim and object of apostolic works is that all who are made sons of God by faith and baptism should come together to praise God in the midst of His Church, to take part in the sacrifice, and to eat the Lord's supper." Sacrosanctum Concilium (10)

The Office of Worship nurtures and supports the prayer life of the Diocese celebrated through the Sacred Mysteries. In addition, the Office fosters continued liturgical renewal which calls for full and active participation in every celebration of the liturgy. The Office is committed to assist parishes throughout the Diocese of Raleigh to celebrate the liturgy that the Church calls us to celebrate so that it will be truly that summit and font from which lives of the people of the Diocese flows.

The Office of Worship accomplishes its mission through:

Assisting the Bishop in his role as the principal liturgist of the Diocese
Coordination of all episcopal and Diocesan liturgies
Recommendation and formation of particular norms, practices, guidelines in keeping with the liturgical praxis and norms of the Church
Providing resource on liturgical matters for the Bishop, parishes of the Diocese, and other Diocesan ministry offices
Implementation of catechesis and liturgical formation on the parish level, deanery level and the diocesan level in collaboration with other Diocesan ministries.
