Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), employers must offer an annual Open Enrollment period. Open enrollment is a window of time that allows eligible employees (and their eligible dependents) who previously waived medical and/or dental coverage to enroll without a waiting period or life event or to make changes to their current medical and/or dental coverage.
Application for enrollment or changes during open enrollment must be done within a sixty day period prior to the employer’s healthcare plan renewal date. The next open enrollment period for the Diocese of Raleigh will be held May 1 - June 30, 2018, for an effective date of July 1, 2018.
The opportunity to enroll immediately with a qualified life event is still available at any time through a Special Enrollment.
