Father Philip Johnson to have surgery related to brain tumor

Father Philip Johnson, a priest of the Diocese of Raleigh, learned this week of a new growth in the Anaplastic Astrocytoma brain tumor, which until recently has been static. He will undergo a biopsy surgery next week at Duke University Hospital.

Please keep Father Johnson in your daily prayers, especially asking the intercession of Our Lady of Lourdes, Saint Bernadette, and if it is God’s will to glorify His servant, Father Thomas Frederick Price, that the favor of healing strength also be granted through his prayerful intercession.

On Saturday, Jan. 7, Philip Gerard Johnson was ordained to the priesthood by the Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge, bishop of the Diocese of Arlington and former bishop of the Diocese of Raleigh, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.

Father Johnson, a Greensboro native and former Naval Officer who served during two deployments to the Northern Arabian Gulf, completed his studies at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in 2016.
