White Mass Celebrated at St. Peter Church in Greenville
Medical professionals, families and friends took part in a White Mass celebrated by Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge, October 22, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Greenville. A White Mass recognizes men and women who care for the sick and infirmed and those who provide pastoral care.
Bishop Burbidge told the gathering that those who are suffering physically and emotionally, “discover the abiding presence of the Lord our God” in and through you.
On a personal note, the Bishop spoke of his father’s passing this year and how grateful his family was of the medical professionals who tended to him.
“At this Mass, we ask the Lord to sustain you in your work and ministry so that you may remain instruments in bringing His comfort and love at all those who are weary and find life burdensome,” the Bishop said.
Noting Catholic belief in the sacredness of all human life from conception to natural death, Bishop Burbidge encouraged the health care professionals to “profess your faith in word and deed every day.”
