Father Willard Rucinski, OSFS, Laid to Rest
The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge is requesting prayers for the repose of the soul of Father Willard F. Rucinski, O.S.F.S., who died October 30. The Mass of Christian Burial for Father Rucinski was held Wednesday, November 3, at St. Hedwig Church in Wilmington, Delaware.
Father Rucinski served in the Diocese of Raleigh for 14 years as Pastor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Fayetteville. He retired in June and returned to the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, where he was residing at the Salesianum School Faculty House. Ordained a priest in Rome in 1965, Father Rucinski spent more than 40 years as a Catholic school teacher, Salesianum administrator, seminary professor and pastor in schools and churches along the East Coast.
The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge attended the funeral Mass, joined by members of the Oblates who are serving in the Diocese of Raleigh. The Bishop is asking the faithful in the Diocese to pray for Father Rucinski, the parishioners of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and the Oblate community.
