40 Days for Life Prayer Campaign Begins
“40 Days for Life,” a national pro-life campaign that takes place each spring and fall, began September 22 in 238 locations in the United States, Canada, Australia, England, Northern Ireland and Denmark. This fall’s campaign is the largest to date. Its purpose is to pray that, with God’s help, abortion will end throughout America.
A group of pro-life advocates in Raleigh, including the Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge, gathered to pray the Rosary at “A Woman’s Choice” clinic on Drake Circle at 7:00 AM. Individuals will pray at the center from 7:00 AM until 6:30 PM each day until October 31.
“40 Days for Life” consists of prayer, fasting, peaceful vigil and community outreach. The most visible sign of the campaign is the peaceful vigil which takes place outside abortion clinics. All participants pledge to conduct themselves in a Christ-like manner.
