Bishop Burbidge Celebrates Installation Anniversary Mass
The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge celebrated a Mass of Thanksgiving to mark the Fourth Anniversary of his installation as the fifth Bishop of Raleigh. The Mass was concelebrated by seven priests and attended by Catholic faithful and members of the Diocesan staff.
At the beginning of Mass, Bishop Burbidge asked for prayers for the healing and well-being of Bishop Joseph Gossman, who is recovering from a cerebral hemorrhage suffered in July.
Noting that August 4th is the Feast Day of St. John Vianney, Bishop Burbidge spoke of the Saint, who is patron of all priests, encouraging us to pray and to love. “Our prayer,” Bishop Burbidge said, “reminds us of our complete dependency on the Lord our God. Whatever we hope to do for the Lord and His people, can only be done with the amazing grace, strength and guidance He provides. We must pray daily for those gifts.”
