Blessed Kateri and 2009 Vatican Budget Stories Featured in CNS Report
For more than 100 years, Catholics have been praying for the canonization of Blessed Kateri Tekawitha hoping she will become the first Native American saint. This week’s Catholic News Service report, available on the Diocesan Web site, features a story on Blessed Kateri, whose feast day is July 14. Also featured is the final report on the Vatican’s 2009 budget, which shows a shortfall, despite an increase in donations. The story provides an explanation of the deficit, which includes the global economy and expenses related to evangelization. In the audio section of the CNS link on the Diocesan Web site, visitors will find a story on Saint Gregory the Great, one of the “Fathers of the Church,” who is now available on Twitter.
You can access the stories by clicking on the Catholic News Service button on the right side of the Diocesan home page or at the link above.
