Catholic Committee on Scouting Elects New Leadership
The Catholic Committee on Scouting (CCOS) of the Diocese of Raleigh has elected new leadership for the coming two years. Mr. John Leighton, a parishioner at Holy Spirit in Kinston, is the new Chairman with Ms. Deborah Wiggins, a parishioner at St. Ann in Fayetteville, elected to the position of Recording Secretary. Outgoing Chair Mr. Frank Jackson from St. Andrew in Apex will serve as Treasurer and Communications Chair. Stacey Larkins, a parishioner at St. Patrick in Fayetteville, was elected Cub Scout Program Chair and Jim Cichetti from St. Raphael in Raleigh was re-elected as Religious Emblems Chair.
The CCOS recognized Mr. Jackson for his six years of services as Chair, presenting him with a plaque. Fr. Scott McCue, Diocesan Scout Chaplain, said, “Frank has served the Catholic Scouting Community in this Diocese faithfully as chairman of the CCOS. He has been instrumental in promoting Catholic Scouting throughout our Diocese, increasing the number of Catholic sponsored troops, and working with our local Boy Scout Councils to improve relationships between the CCOS and scout executives. I am extremely grateful for his faithful service to Catholic Scouting.”
The Catholic Committee on Scouting administers and promotes Catholic Scouting efforts in the Diocese of Raleigh, which includes religious programs for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Campfire Boys and Girls and American Heritage Girls.
The annual Catholic Scout Camporee will take place September 24-26 at Camp Tuscarora in Bentonville.
