Bishop Gossman Celebrates 80th Birthday
On April 8th, The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge and Catholic Center staff congratulated Most Reverend F. Joseph Gossman, Bishop Emeritus of Raleigh, with a luncheon and cake on the occasion of his 80th birthday on April 1st.
On behalf of the Diocese, Bishop Burbidge expressed gratitude for Bishop Gossman’s life and continuing service. Noting Bishop Gossman’s support of various charities throughout the Diocese and his special affection for the Madonna House Apostolate in Raleigh, Bishop Burbidge presented him with a donation to the Apostolate from the Diocese in Bishop Gossman’s name. Madonna House is an international apostolate, whose members are lay men and women and priests dedicated to loving and serving Christ through promises of poverty, chastity and obedience. At the request of local bishops, they serve throughout the world in missionary field houses such as the one in Raleigh.
