Bishop Burbidge Celebrates Palm Sunday Mass
Catholic churches throughout the Diocese of Raleigh joined with the universal church on March 16 in solemn celebration of Palm (Passion) Sunday, marking the triumphant entry of Jesus into the city of Jerusalem. Palm Sunday is the sixth and final Sunday of Lent and is the first day of Holy Week.
The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge celebrated Palm Sunday Mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Raleigh, where he was joined by Bishop-Emeritus F. Joseph Gossman; Very Reverend Daniel D. Oschwald, Cathedral Rector and Father Salvatore Busichio, Vice-Rector.
In his homily, Bishop Burbidge spoke of the love that Jesus has for us, a love that knows no limit. “With an immense love for each one of us,” the Bishop said, “Jesus freely offered His very life in order to fulfill His Father’s plan for the salvation of the world.”
Encouraging the Diocesan faithful to make this a truly special week by attending Holy Week services, so that, we can “meditate upon the true meaning of Jesus’ suffering, death and resurrection.”
