US Bishops Issue Alert on Health Care Bill
With the possibility of a Congressional vote on health care looming, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is urging Catholics to contact their federal legislators as soon as possible.
The bill currently under consideration is one approved by the U.S. Senate on December 24 that requires federal funds to help subsidize and promote health plans that cover elective abortions.
The US Bishops are on record as long-time advocates of health care reform. They support reform that protects life, dignity, conscience and the health of all, especially the poor and vulnerable.
Information on the House and Senate versions of the healthcare reform, along with information on how to contact members of the Senate and the House of Representatives is below in Spanish and English.
