Registration Underway for 8th Annual Ignited By Truth Conference

The 8th annual Ignited By Truth Catholic Conference will be held on March 19-20 at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh, NC. Ignited by Truth is the largest conference in the Diocese of Raleigh, drawing 2200 attendees last year from 22 states including Kenya, Africa.

Supported by the Diocese of Raleigh, Ignited By Truth offers a weekend of dynamic speakers bringing to light the truth of the teachings of the Catholic Church on subjects ranging from living the faith in the athletic arena to secrets to a lasting, fulfilling marriage.

The free Friday evening workshop is devoted to those considering entering the Catholic Church. The theme of the evening is “Discover the Catholic Church.” The event begins at 6:30pm with a Vendor and Ministry Fair and will feature three speakers, who will be part of Saturday’s program: John Martignoni on “One Church”; Fr. Dwight Longenecker on “More Christianity”; and Dr. Greg and Lisa Popcak with a college breakout on “Holy Sex.”

Saturday will offer a full day of presentations, beginning with Morning Prayer at 8:30am.

Speakers include:

  • Pat McCaskey, Chicago Bears Co-Owner and founder of Sports Faith International- This devoted father and successful businessman will share his mission to transform the culture through powerful, personal testimonies of outstanding athletes living their faith on and off the field.
  • Fr. Dwight Longenecker, Convert from the Anglican Priesthood - A former Anglican priest who realized that he and the Anglican Church were on different paths. He will offer insights into the vocational call as the great gift of the Holy Catholic priesthood.
  • John Martignoni, founder of the Bible Christian Society - As a Baptist convert who answered God’s call to evangelize through the radio, this apologetics expert will teach how to answer some tough questions about the Catholic faith.
  • Dr. John Bergsma, associate professor of Theology at the Franciscan University of Steubenville – A former Protestant pastor, who converted while pursuing his PhD in Theology, will share his knowledge of scripture and the blessing God has given us in faith.
  • Dr. Greg & Lisa Popcak co-direct the Pastoral Solutions Institute and syndicated radio programs – Professionals in Catholic counseling, the couple will reveal the secret to faithful, fulfilling marriages found in the teachings of the Church.
  • Fr. Deacon Daniel Dozier, Deacon in the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church - Together with his father, he serves two Eastern North Carolina mission churches. He will explore the theology of Icons and the beauty which turns hearts and minds toward God.

The day also includes a session for students ages ten and up on “Dating and Love in the Gospel of John” and “How to be a Spiritual Hero-Ten Steps on the Christian Adventure.”

The Ignited By Truth conference ends with a 5:00pm Vigil Mass celebrated by The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge.  All are welcome to attend Mass.

 Pre-registration is required for Saturday’s program through March 14. A pre-registration discount has been extended until March 7 at a cost of $35 for adults and $25 for students, which includes Saturday lunch.  After this date, you may register at the door.  Additional information and registration forms are available at www.IgnitedByTruth.com.
