2010 BAA Supports Pastoral and Social Outreach Ministries of Diocese
The 2010 Bishop’s Annual Appeal (BAA) is underway. This year’s goal is $5,613,503, with donations being used to support more than thirty pastoral and social ministry programs of the Diocese of Raleigh. Programs include Youth and Young Adult Ministry, Marriage Preparation, Catholic Charities, Parish Assistance Grants, Vocations, the Permanent Diaconate and Campus Ministry.
An Appeal brochure has been sent to registered households in the Diocese. The brochure includes a letter from Bishop Michael F. Burbidge and examples of ministries funded by the annual collection. Examples are also shown in the 2010 Bishop’s Annual Appeal video tape. The video, an English and Spanish version, includes features on a Diocesan seminarian telling his faith story, examples of parish assistance grants which help small parishes in the Diocese and a segment on a Catholic Charities program working in partnership with other faith groups and local government to help the lives of the disadvantaged.
Each week for the next several weeks, we will feature examples of BAA-supported ministries. We begin with an extended version of the faith story of Seminarian Michael Burbeck, First Year Theology student at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia.
