Catholic Scouts to Mark 100 Anniversary of Boy Scouts of America
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. To mark the centennial celebration, the Diocese of Raleigh Catholic Committee on Scouting will join with the four other dioceses in the Atlanta Province in hosting a Catholic Jamboree on March 18-20.
The Jamboree is expected to attract more than one thousand Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Venture Crew Members, and will be held at Camp Barstow in Batesburg, SC. The event will consist of a full program of scouting activities, fellowship, and sharing of the Catholic faith. This is symbolized in the Jamboree theme "100 Years of Duty to God."
Non-Catholic youth and adults are welcome to attend. The centerpiece of the Jamboree will be the celebration of Mass by many of the Bishops and Priests from throughout the five dioceses. Pre-registration is required. To register for the jamboree or for more information, go to the Jamboree website at http://www.2010CatholicJamboree.info, or contact Frank Jackson of the Raleigh Diocese Catholic Committee on Scouting at email@example.com.
