Bishop Celebrates Immaculate Conception Mass
Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge, Bishop of Raleigh, celebrated Mass on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, December 8th, for the students and staff of Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh.
In his homily, the Bishop spoke about the separation from God caused by Adam and Eve, a separation ended by God’s gift of new life to His people. “A baby girl was conceived without sin, in a state of perfect grace,” the Bishop said. “This baby was Mary, the new Eve, called to bring forth the new Adam, Jesus, the Son of God, the Son of Mary, the Savior of the world.”
God’s gift of grace is still offered to us, the Bishop continued: “This sacred Season of Advent is a special invitation for us to change… so that we may celebrate the new life that is ours through Mary and in Christ Jesus.”
