Bishop Burbidge Celebrates Centennial Mass for Cathedral School
Cathedral School is marking its 100th anniversary this year, with events throughout the school year. On Saturday, March 7, The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge celebrated a Centennial Mass commemorating the achievement for approximately 300 students, parents and friends of the school.
In his homily, the Bishop spoke of the solid foundation established by Bishops, Priests, Women Religious, lay faculty and volunteers and especially parents, who through the years “have and continue to sacrifice greatly so their children can be the beneficiaries of Catholic Education.”
Reflecting on the Gospel of the day, taken from the Sermon on the Mount, Bishop Burbidge spoke of Jesus challenging the disciples “to reach for the highest ideals.”
The Bishop noted that’s a challenge given to students by all Catholic schools, which encourage students to use “their God-given to their fullest potential in service to the Lord and His Church.”
