The Seventh Annual Ignited by Truth Catholic Conference will take place February 13-14, 2009 at the Raleigh Convention Center. This year’s conference will feature several nationally known authors and presenters. The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge will celebrate the closing Mass.

The event will begin Friday evening at 7:00 p.m., with an opening talk by Joseph Pearce, an English-born author and Professor of Literature at Ave Maria University in Naples, Florida. As a youngster, Pearce grew up in an anti-Catholic home and became agnostic. His conversion took place in 1989, the result in part to the writings of G. K. Chesterton. Pearce will present two sessions. On Friday evening, he will discuss “Race with the Devil: From Racial Hatred to the Love of Christ.” On Saturday he will explore “The Evangelizing Power of Beauty.”

Other featured speakers are Catholic apologist Tim Staples, Catholic evangelist Fr. Larry Richards and Immaculée Ilibagiza, a survivor of the 1994 Rwandan genocide. Ms. Ilibagiza has written a book titled Left to Tell, detailing the death of her family members, her survival, her transition into forgiveness and her relationship with God.
