The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge has been elected the Chairman-elect of the Committee on Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations by the U.S. Bishops at their fall general assembly in Baltimore.
The Committee on Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations assists bishops, both collectively and individually, in promoting, supporting, and educating about the Church’s pastoral needs and concerns for the Priesthood, Diaconate, and Consecrated Life within culturally diverse communities of the United States.
The Bishops also elected the following:
Bishop Kevin J. Farrell of Dallas, Treasurer-elect for the Committee on Budget and Finance
Cardinal Daniel N. DiNardo of Galveston-Houston, Chairman-elect of the Committee on Divine Worship
Archbishop Thomas G. Wenski of Miami, Chairman-elect of the Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development
Bishop Richard J. Malone of Buffalo, N.Y. (and current Administrator of the Diocese of Portland, Maine), Chairman-elect of the Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family Life and Youth, over Bishop Paul J. Bradley
Auxiliary Bishop Eusebio L. Elizondo of Seattle, Chairman-elect of the Committee on Migration
The newly elected officials will assume their positions November 2013.
