St. Francis of Assisi Parish Receives National Award
St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Raleigh has been recognized by the International Catholic Stewardship Conference (ICSC) for its commitment to stewardship as a way of life.
On September 16, 2012, the ICSC presented the 2012 Archbishop Thomas J. Murphy Parish Stewardship Award to Fr. Mark Reamer, OFM, Pastor of St. Francis, at a ceremony held in Chicago. He was accompanied by three members of the St. Francis Community. The award is presented annually to a parish which exemplifies stewardship and demonstrates excellence in key areas.
In accepting the award, Fr. Reamer expressed gratitude on behalf of his faith community, noting that “many parishioners have been tilling the soil in which the seeds of stewardship were planted long ago by my predecessors, pastors David McBriar and Dan Kenna.” He also acknowledged the dedicated work of the pastoral staff and the stewardship committee.
“What Jesus asks of us,” Fr. Reamer said, “and what I believe it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, is to respond to the single most important challenge of discipleship as Jesus exhorts us: ‘What you receive as a gift, give as a gift.’ That’s the heart of stewardship.”
