St. Thomas More Pastor Discusses Need for New Cathedral
Parish receptions are underway for the Block 2 phase of the Cathedral Campus Campaign. One of the 53 parishes participating in this phase is St. Thomas More Church in Chapel Hill, which plans to use a portion of the parish share of the Campaign to increase its outreach to those in need in Orange County.
Fr. Scott McCue, pastor of St. Thomas More, said the Cathedral Campus project, with its focus on current needs and long-range vision, is similar to the vision of Fr. Thomas Price when he purchased the Nazareth property in the 1890s. Fr. Price purchased the land upon which the Cathedral will be built to address the needs of orphaned children and to establish a center of the Catholic presence in North Carolina.
