The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge visited John Paul II High School in Greenville September 7, 2012, where he celebrated Mass for the faculty, students and their families. The school, which opened the 2010-2011 school year beginning with a freshmen class, now number 50 students in grades 9-11. It will graduate its first class in 2014. The school is located on the St. Gabriel Church parish grounds.

A reception was held for the school community following Mass. Bishop Burbidge then toured the facility, which includes new modular units and a gymnasium/parish hall currently under construction. Future plans call for the building of a high school on the property. The Bishop blessed two school buses purchased for the new school year.

The Bishop visited students in their classrooms and received a gift from them of a card and a school umbrella on the occasion of his 10th anniversary of ordination as Bishop.
