On August 11, 2012, Sadlier Publishing Company and the Diocese of Raleigh sponsored a workshop entitled, “Engaging Parents in the Faith Formation of Their Children and Creative Teaching Methods.” The workshop was held at St. Gabriel Church in Greenville, NC.

Nearly 50 faith formation leaders and catechists, representing eleven parishes, were in attendance. The bilingual workshop was led by Ms. Yolanda Berrios, Hispanic Ministry Director at Transfiguration Catholic Church in Marietta, Georgia, and Mr. Steve Botsford, Sales Representative, Sadlier Publishing.

“We felt very blessed to experience the Spanish presentation led by Ms. Berrios,” said Sr. Kieran Williams, Pastoral Administrator of Holy Trinity Parish in Williamston, NC. “In addition to the wonderful resources we were able to take home, we experienced a sharing energy. We couldn’t wait to share and encourage others to come to as many workshops as they can to learn and become confident with the materials.”

“I was so pleased that the Diocese offered this workshop in the Tar River Deanery,” said Dianne Young, Director of Religious Education at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Rocky Mount, NC,  and Tar River Deanery Coordinator . “The engaging workshops created a great learning experience and provided participants ideas to take back to their parishes.”

The Office of Catholic Formation and Evangelization supports parishes in forming the people of God into vibrant Eucharistic communities. “Wonderful opportunities such as this workshop help us provide resources to Anglo and Spanish communities around the Diocese to meet their needs so they can grow as leaders in their own parishes,” said Sr. Rose Marie Adams, I.H.M., Executive Director,  Office of Catholic Formation and Evangelization.
