US Bishops Using Text Alerts for Religious Freedom
On June 21, 2012, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops initiated a text messaging campaign that offers Catholics and other individuals the opportunity to work on behalf of religious liberty. The texting project is the result of the Obama Administration’s Health and Human Services mandate that requires the overwhelming majority of employers to provide contraception, sterilization and abortifacients to their employees.
The bishops are calling on all Americans to support our most cherished freedom, the First Freedom of the Bill of Rights, the right to religious liberty. The texting project will provide those who subscribe with periodic information on how to help protect religious freedom in the United States as well as worldwide.
To register, simply text the word Freedom to 377377 to join the movement. Standard text message and data rates may apply.
