The Catholic Church in the United States will mark a Fortnight for Freedom from June 21 through July 4. The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge will begin the Fortnight in the Diocese of Raleigh with the celebration of Mass June 21 at 6:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Raleigh.

In a letter to faithful available this weekend in parish bulletins, Bishop Burbidge writes, “As we approach the anniversary of our nation’s independence, we express our thanksgiving to God for the blessings of religious liberty…. While this freedom is guaranteed in the Constitution, it must never be taken for granted.”

Bishop Burbidge requests the faithful to join him in prayer during the Fortnight for Freedom and to access the resources available on the Diocesan website, including the USCCB document, “Our First, Most Cherished Liberty.”
