Three Seminarians Receive Degrees, Summer Assignments Announced
Three Diocesan seminarians have received degrees following completion of their college education at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia. Mr. John Kane, Mr. Michael Schuetz and Mr. Edisson Urrego were awarded Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Philosophy. In August, they will be enrolled in Theology 1 in their formation for Priesthood in the Diocese of Raleigh.
Also beginning in Theology 1 will be Mr. Timothy Ahn and Mr. Myles Casanova, who have completed Pre-Theology. Mr. Ahn was honored at the completion of the 2011-2012 school year, receiving the Bishop Francis E. Hyland Award for Excellence in Field Education. The annual award is presented by the St. Charles Borromeo Lay Alumni Association.
In August, Mr. Ahn and Mr. Schuetz will be assigned to the North American College in Rome to continue their formation.
The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge has announced the summer assignments for the Diocesan seminarians. The three newly ordained Transitional Deacons will be assigned to parishes, four will spend part of their summer on a mission experience in Central America, three will attend the Institute for Priestly Ministry at Creighton University, and two will take Italian classes in preparation for their assignment at the North American College in Rome.
