Catholic Charities Second Annual Gala Set for April 28
Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh will hold its Second Annual Celebrate God’s Gifts Gala on Saturday, April 28, 2012, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the North Raleigh Hilton Hotel, located at 3415 Wake Forest Road. The announcement was made by the Board of Directors of the Diocesan agency. The event will be hosted by the Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge.
WTVD ABC-11 News Anchor Tisha Powell will serve as emcee. Sr. Mary Isaac Joques Koenig, SU, Director of the Tileston Social Outreach program at St. Mary Church in Wilmington will speak on the important emergency and long-term services provided by Catholic Charities to those in need in the Diocese, regardless of creed. Last year, Catholic Charities served 16,000 families across Eastern North Carolina.
The festivities will also include presentation of the 2012 Bishop F. Joseph Gossman Community Service Award to Rick Miller-Haraway, LCSW, Director of Catholic Charities in the Raleigh Deanery. Mr. Miller-Haraway began his work in the Diocese as coordinator of young adult ministry and later transitioned into social work and assumed the position of counselor and supervisor of clinical counseling for Catholic Charities. Over the years he has directed the enormous increase in Catholic Parish Outreach services to the poor in the Raleigh area and has led diocesan participation in the Raleigh/Wake Partnership to End and Prevent Homelessness, including the Family Support Circle Program.
Individual tickets for the fundraiser are $75 and can be purchased by calling Ms. Patricia Reid at 919-821-8146 or emailing Patricia.Reid@raldioc.org. Attendees will enjoy drinks and a seated dinner. Jazz musicians with Moore Square Band will provide entertainment.
