The 2nd Annual Pro-Life Rally for High School Students, sponsored by the Diocesan Pro-Life Office, will be held Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Sacred Heart Cathedral Church beginning at 11:00 am. The event, “Love My Life” (LML), welcomes all high school students and parish youth groups to celebrate God’s special gift of human life.

The high-energy, spirit-filled event features music, speakers and food. Special guest will be Bishop Michael F. Burbidge. Among the speakers will be Fr. Anthony DeCandia, Campus Minister at North Carolina State University.

Several hundred students are expected to attend the Youth Rally. Many of them will then join Bishop Burbidge in the NC Rally and March for Life scheduled at 1:00 PM at Nash square. Bishop Burbidge will give the invocation.

Students who attended last year’s rally expressed pleasant surprise at the turnout. Several said they weren’t sure what to expect, but the fact that more than 500 were present was impressive. They also  noted the warm, welcoming and hospitable nature of the event.

Russell Hoyt, youth minister at St. Luke the Evangelist Church in Raleigh, who will once again serve as “Love My Life” emcee, produced a video inviting students in the Diocese to take part in the pro-life events.
