Six Seminarians Admitted to Candidacy

Six Diocese of Raleigh seminarians were received into Admission to Candidacy on November 4, 2011, in a ceremony held at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia. The new Candidates are Philip Johnson, Jonathan Baggett, Ian Van Heusen, Steven Cartwright, Phil List and Rob Schmid. The Admission to Candidacy rite offers the candidates for ordination the opportunity to publicly express their intention to receive ordination to the Sacrament of Holy Orders.

Archbishop Charles Chaput of Philadelphia presided at the Mass and the Admission ceremony. Bishop Michael F. Burbidge concelebrated. Also concelebrating at the Mass from the Diocese of Raleigh were Vocations Director Father Ned Shlesinger, Father Philip Tighe, Father Vic Gournas and Father Brendan Buckler.
