Bishop Burbidge Offers Prayers for Fallen Military

The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge is requesting prayers for the servicemen killed in the downing of a Chinook helicopter in Afghanistan on August 6.  The chopper, with 38 people aboard, was shot down while on a rescue mission in the embattled country. Thirty of those aboard were Americans, the majority of whom were Special Forces.

“I express heartfelt sympathy to all the families whose loved ones serving our country were killed in the tragic events of Afghanistan this past weekend,” Bishop Burbidge said. “I ask all in the Diocese of Raleigh to join me in thanking them for their heroic and selfless service to our nation and in praying for their eternal happiness and peace in the Kingdom of Heaven. Please also continue to pray for all in the military and ask the Lord, through the intercession of Saint Michael the Archangel, to bless and protect them.”
