Catholics planning to visit Washington, DC this summer or sometime in the future may want to put on their agenda a visit to what is termed an “oasis of prayer” in the nation’s capital.  It is the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land, located close to Catholic University in Northeast Washington.  The Monastery is one of the featured stories currently available on the CNS Video news reports, located on the Diocesan home page.

Also featured is a story on the changing face of Catholic parishes in the United States, based on a survey released on July 18 by the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate at Georgetown University. Among its findings, the average US parish has 1,168 registered households and half of the parishes celebrate four or more Masses each weekend.

Catholic News Service provides several video stories each day from the Vatican and Washington, DC.  The CNS video reports offer news and information not available in other media outlets.
