NC Bishops Request Support of Special Needs Bill
The Catholic Bishops of North Carolina are requesting the faithful in their Dioceses to contact their State House representatives asking for their vote in favor of House Bill 344, which would allow income tax credit for children with disabilities who require special education. The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge of Raleigh and the Most Reverend Peter J. Jugis of Charlotte point out the burden faced by many families who have a special needs child. They note that Catholic schools in both Dioceses would be willing to work with families in accommodating their children.
Contact information for House members and the Bishops’ request is available at the Catholic Voice NC website.
