NC Bishops Request Support for Women’s Right to Know

North Carolina’s Catholic Bishops are asking the faithful in the Diocese of Raleigh and the Diocese of Charlotte to telephone their State House member to vote in favor of House Bill 854. In a letter posted June 1, 2011, on www.catholicvoiceNC.org, Bishop Michael F. Burbidge and Bishop Peter J. Jugis point out that a vote on “A Woman’s Right to Know Act” could take place before Friday, June 3. The bill requires a set of notifications for women considering an abortion, including the offer of an ultrasound.

Given the possibility of the bill being brought to the floor at any time, the Bishops are requesting the faithful to contact their State representative by telephone. Contact information is available at the Catholic Voice website.
