NC Catholic Bishops Urge Support of Choose Life License Plate
February 24, 2011
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Over the past two years, Catholic Voice NC and many other organizations in our state have lobbied vigorously for the Choose Life license plate. With the introduction of Senate Bill 73 in the legislature, we are again asking for your help.
Bills to allow the Choose Life license plate have been introduced into the legislature each of the last eight years, and the matter has never been allowed to come to a vote. We believe that this year’s bill has a great chance of success.
At this time we are asking you to support the Choose Life license plate bill by sending an e-mail to your state senator. We will be watching the progress of the bill and will keep you informed as it moves toward a vote.
Funds raised from the Choose Life plates will be dedicated to pregnancy care centers in North Carolina. These pregnancy care centers promote adoption and other compassionate alternatives to abortion.
North Carolina is the only state in the southeast that denies its citizens the opportunity to display a Choose Life license plate. Specialty license plates raise funds and awareness for a variety of causes. Currently North Carolina issues 130 specialty plates.
Thank you for your continued support of life.

Bishop of Raleigh
