Bishop Burbidge to Celebrate Mass for the Sick

larger font

The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge will commemorate the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, Friday, February 11, with the celebration of the Mass for the Sick at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Raleigh. The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will be conferred during Mass on those who suffer from serious illness, chronic illness, and those who will be undergoing surgery or the elderly who may be weakened by their condition.

Since 1992, the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes has been observed as the World Day of Prayer for the Sick, providing the opportunity to give special attention to the needs and witness of the sick in our communities. The day is also marked by giving thanks to those who dedicate their lives to care of the sick and infirmed: family members, health care professionals, hospice and pastoral care providers, and Ordained Clergy, Religious and Extraordinary Ministers who bring Eucharist to the sick.

The Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church will be at 7:00 p.m.
