2011 Bishop’s Annual Appeal Underway to Assist Diocesan Ministries
The 2011 Bishop’s Annual Appeal (BAA) is now underway in the 96 parishes and mission churches in the Diocese of Raleigh. This year’s goal is $5,894,178, which provides support to some 30 diocesan ministries. The categories are: Pastoral Programs (54%), Catholic Charities (20%), Ordained Ministries (14%), Grants (10%) and the Diocesan Home Mission Society (2%).
In a letter to the faithful of the Diocese, the Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge wrote that the Bishop’s Annual Appeal serves as a reminder that Our Lord Jesus acts in and through us. That is reflected in this year’s theme, Our Gifts. Our Call. Our Mission. “The sacrificial gifts you provided last year,” Bishop Burbidge wrote, “enabled Catholic Charities to assist more than 54,000 individuals with emergency assistance, family support services and counseling.” The Bishop noted that through the generous donations of the faithful, the Diocese was able to fund a new Pro-Life Office.
Bishop’s Burbidge’s letter on the 2011 Annual Appeal is available on the Bishop’s Annual Appeal page of the Diocesan web site. There you will also find the 2011 Appeal video, which this year provides features on Youth Ministry, Pro-Life Grants, and Catholic Charities.
