Pope Francis asks churches to offer "24 Hours for the Lord"

Pope Francis has invited the universal Church to participate in a “24 Hours for the Lord” initiative, which is to be observed March 4-5, 2016. The observance, during Lent and within the Jubilee of Mercy, is a time of Eucharistic Adoration and to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Pope Francis is opening the Penitential Celebration at Saint Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican.

“Let us not underestimate the power of so many voices united in prayer,” said Pope Francis. “The ‘24 Hours for the Lord,’ is meant to be a sign of this need for prayer.”

In observance, Bishop Burbidge will celebrate Mass and Confessions:

  • March 4, 2016, Mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral at 12:10 p.m.; Confessions will follow
  • March 5, 2016, Mass at Saint Raphael the Archangel at 9:00 a.m.; Confessions will follow
  • March 5, 2016, Confessions at Sacred Heart Cathedral at 3:30 p.m.
