Just prior to the announcement that Bishop Michael F. Burbidge would be transferred to the Diocese of Arlington, he issued a pastoral letter about the Holy Name of Jesus. Today, on the Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus, we are re-releasing the pastoral letter in a digital magazine format.
In the pastoral letter, Bishop Burbidge addresses this history of the Catholic Church in North Carolina, pointing to the rich faith of those who have come before us, building the diocese spiritually and physically. He looks to the Church's ongoing devotion to the Holy Name of Jesus and depicts how the Holy Name of Our Lord has inspired art. He concludes with a call for the faithful in the Diocese of Raleigh to a greater and continued respect and reverence when using God's Holy Name.
