Approximately 300 Hispanic catechists and parish leaders from 27 churches attended the XIV Encounter of Diocesan Hispanic Catechists Saturday August 4, 2012, at St. Michael's Church in Cary.

This year’s theme, “The new Evangelization and its Challenges,” was presented by guest speakers Msgr. Michael Clay, Diocese of Raleigh priest and Professor of Pastoral Studies at Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and Father Paul W. Brant, S.J., Parochial Vicar of the Parish of St. Therese in Wilson NC.

In agreement with radio stations in Mount Olive, NC, www.radiolavozdecristo.com and www.radiocatolicacristorey.com in Dallas, TX, XIV Encounter was broadcast live throughout the day in over 10 countries.

The next major event planned for the Hispanic parish leaders will take place at the Diocesan Catholic Convocation, October 20th, which will also be held at St. Michael the Archangel Parish. The Convocation will mark the beginning celebration of the “Year of Faith” in the Diocese.

The XV Encounter of Diocesan Hispanic Catechists is scheduled to take place in August of 2013.
