Diocese views progress of new cathedral's pipe organ

Monsignor David Brockman, Michael Accurso, director of Sacred Music for the Diocese of Raleigh, and Preston Smith, member of the Pipe Organ Committee, visited Gloucester, Massachusetts Monday, Nov. 7.

They visited C.B. Fisk, Inc., the company that is building the pipe organ for Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral in Raleigh.

Monsignor Brockman shared photographs of the outside of the shop, noting that the steel building may look plain but that “extraordinary things are inside.”

The three men viewed the model Fisk used to design the pipe organ. They also worked on the design of the console layout and stops for the organ and reviewed the beginning construction for the console.

Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral will be dedicated July 26, 2017. The pipe organ, however, will not be installed until months later to allow for all construction dust to fully settle.
