Diocesan Update Interview with Bishop Burbidge
The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge will be celebrant and homilist at the annual Chrism Mass on Tuesday, March 18 at Saint Michael the Archangel Church in Cary 2:00 PM. The Mass, which is attended by all priests in the Diocese and representatives of the 96 parishes and mission churches, includes the blessing of the oil of catechumens, the oil of the sick and the oil of Chrism. These oils form an important part of the sacramental life of our parishes throughout the year. During the Mass, priests renew their commitment of service and receive the prayers and support of the faithful.
The Triduum begins on Holy Thursday with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper. On Good Friday, parishes commemorate Stations of the Cross and Veneration of the Cross. The Triduum reaches its high point with the Easter Vigil and officially closes with evening prayer on Easter Sunday.
Lenten sacrifice and Holy Week services are two of the subjects covered in this month’s edition of Diocesan Update with Bishop Michael Burbidge. The Bishop also discusses the upcoming Diocesan Youth Convention, Confirmation, and a video presentation of Confirmation questions and answers involving Bishop Burbidge and students of Cardinal Gibbons High School. In the video update, the Bishop also discusses First Friday Vocation Holy Hours which are being celebrated in a different deanery each month.
