The North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) has announced that Cardinal Gibbons High School has received the Exemplary School Award. This is the highest honor the association grants.
The Exemplary School Award recognizes the top overall school in the the state in terms of “total program,” including but not limited to academics, athletic success, scope of opportunities offered, sportsmanship, community interest and involvement, and facilities.
On receiving the award Jason Curtis said on Twitter, “Congratulations to entire Gibbons community for this exceptional honor. Special thanks to Mr. Schuler & Athletic Dept.”
This award is given as a cooperative venture among the NCHSAA, the North Carolina Coaches Association and the North Carolina Athletic Directors Association.
In addition to a trophy and a banner for display, each school which earns this honor receives a $1000 cash award.
Athletic Director Todd Schuler said on Twitter, “2016 Exemplary School Award is a credit to the outstanding partnership between our students, parents & coaches.”
